The acronym-GPS stands for Global Positioning System. It is satellite-based navigational system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed in orbit to circle the earth by the Department of Defense. This system was originally intended for military application but in the 1980’s the government made the system available for civilians.
GPS satellites circle the earth twice a day in a very precise orbit and transmit signal information to earth. This is according to Garmin Ltd. who creates navigation and communication devices.
This world has become an electronic computerized stage and we are the actors. Better yet, we have become the puppets that are being guided by the puppeteers. We have forgotten how to use our built-in senses with which we were created, and have readily traded them in for the right to be computerized and electronically correct.
Many a traveler has opted-in for the navigational system in their automobiles and cannot on any given time rely on their memory for guidance. Even the directions for going to the neighborhood mall have been diligently programmed into their GPS system.
We, as a society has become interdependent on these electronic gadgets. Yes, there are times that the GPS navigational system is needed and should be used, and I am not knocking such a time.
In many cases this navigational system has earned its right to be a part of our every day lives, especially for those who clock many weary hours on the highways and byways of America and beyond. Due to its fallible creators, there is room for errors, and cannot always be relied upon. Although perfection, in any device, is the ultimate goal or objective, only a perfect human being can create such a tool.
But God, our perfect and infallible Creator, gives us His perfect GPS co-ordinance to live a Spirit guided life, that we may be holy and blameless before Him.
God’s Plan of Salvation (GPS) freely offered, freely given and when freely accepted, unlike the Garmin Global Positioning System, that is fallible, positions us into the Body of His Son, our Savior and Lord, Christ Jesus. Unlike the GPS navigational system, God transmits His unconditional love towards us, that while we were still in our trespasses and sins He sent His only begotten Son to die for us. Unlike the GPS navigational system, God does not have to orbit (circle) the earth to gather information for transmitting.
He sits high and He looks low-He is His own navigational system. He knows and sees the intent of the human heart. He knows when the heart is ready to accept and if the heart will accept His offered plan of salvation. Unlike the GPS navigational system, God’s GPS takes us to a greater and better place. It gives us access to God’s throne room of grace and positions us in the heavens. It translates us from this evil and lost world to a place of serenity and tranquility and an eternal life with God the Father.
Unlike the GPS navigational system, God’s GPS-God’s Plan of Salvation, when accepted cannot be LOST or STOLEN. It will not MALFUNCTION in any way, shape or form.
Which would you rather rely on for directions, God’s GPS or Garmin’s GPS-This world’s system and all it has to offer with its inconsistencies?
Since we rely on the navigational systems for directions to and from various places we travel, we must then, depend on God’s navigational system for our spiritual guidance and direction. Our primary concern should be: where are our spirit and soul going after this body dies? Without God’s salvation in Christ, we are completely and miserably lost for all eternity.
Envision being lost on a dark and lonely highway, in an unfamiliar place and there’s no one around to help. Ahh Ha! This is where the navigational system would be very much needed. But if this happens with your spirit and soul it would be t-o-o-o-o-o late. There’s no chance for redemption at this time. God’s GPS is now null and void!
Today is the day of salvation and this can only be accomplished through the finished work at Calvary in Christ Jesus! Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.
Thank You, Lord God, for your mercy and blessings. Thank You, for Your grace through Your salvation plan, in Christ Jesus.
– For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. (Romans 1:16)
