I remember, when I was a little girl, I could not wait to be all grown up. I thought it would be so very cool to be an adult and do all the adult things. Little did I know at that age that responsibility comes with being an adult.
If we could stay as little babes all our lives and not have the responsibilities that often burden us so, many of us would probably opt for that. But then again, we would not grow and mature and enjoy the life which God intended for us to live. Our intellect would be stunted; life would be stagnated and there would be no progress in the world, if God intended that for us. As we now know, He didn’t. He wants for us to grow and mature in the knowledge and grace of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 3: 14 – For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,….Eph. 3:18 – that you may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height, Eph. 3:19 – to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
King Solomon, states in Ecclesiastes 1: 3 – What profit has a man from all his labor in which he toils under the sun? Ecc. 1:9 c – and there is nothing new under the sun. Ecc. 1:10 – Is there anything of which it may be is said, “See this is new”?
One size fits all religion!
The majority of spiritual leaders today are still teaching and preaching to their congregants: How to appropriate the Law of Moses within the church, the Body of Christ.
If the Nation of Israel couldn’t keep the laws (Exodus 20) – (Acts 15: 10) that were given to them which are approximately 613, how can we to whom they were not given keep and appropriate them? That’s like, trying to fit a square peg into a round hole…it does not fit! Not only doesn’t it fit, but the Law of Moses was not given to the Gentiles:
• We were once without Christ,
• aliens from the commonwealth of Israel
• and strangers from the covenants of promise
• having no hope and without God in the world – Ephesians 2: 12.
We were without the Law. This is not new!
Babes…No solid food…still on milk!
I have seen and am carrying a heavy burden for those Christian brothers and sisters who continue to sit under erroneous Bible teaching. Such have not and will not mature in the knowledge and the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ if they continue to walk this way; they have fallen from grace (Galatians 5:4) by not acknowledging the message of the apostle Paul revealed to him by the risen Lord from heaven (Acts 9). Do not take the word of the teacher and not the word of God!
Be diligent (study) to present (show) yourselves approved unto God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly diving the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15).
[C.R. Stam, Author and Founder of the Berean Bible Society, in his book “Things That Differ – The Fundamentals of Dispensationalism” says and I quote, “ There is a great difference between the “child of God” and the “man of God” and no one who remains an infant in the truth can be approved as a workman for God or as a soldier of Jesus Christ, for the workmen God approves must know how to rightly divide the Word of truth and the soldiers He honors must know how to wield the Sword of the Spirit.]
Be a Berean and search the scriptures (Acts 17:11) for yourselves and ask the Holy Spirit to show you the truth…He will! 1 Corinthians 2:6-16
They have continued with their religious works: self- reliance, depending on themselves and the word of their leaders – Romans 4: 4 works are debt…our salvation is a debt we cannot repay. It has been paid in full by way of the cross. Nothing is due on this purchase! It is stamped PAID IN FULL.
The Apostle Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, our apostle says in 1 Corinthians 13:11
When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
He also says in 1 Corinthians 3: 2 – I fed you with milk and not with solid food…
You see, babies have to be fed with milk because their little stomachs are not able to digest solid foods. The Corinthians, enriched in all the spiritual gifts (1 Cor. 1:5, 7) but were yet carnal. The Galatians, knew the gospel of the grace of God, but were falling back into Judaism (Gal. 1:6-10) and had to be admonished by the Apostle.
This is what is happening in many denominational churches. They are still being fed on Gerber strained foods and not on the steak and potatoes of the word. For a lack of knowledge, the Lord said, my people will perish.
Babes in the word, want to be told what to do, when to do and how to do. They are not free from the bondage of the law and cannot function without it….where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17 b). They are being tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine (Ephesians 4:14). They like the feel good doctrine that is being served up as the real deal of the true word of God. The Bible says that all scripture is for our learning as examples for our admonition (1 Corinthians 10:11 b).
Child’s play was great when we were children, but when we become grown up we can no longer continue to embrace the elementary principles of child’s play if we intend to mature spiritually.(Hebrews 6:1) (1 Corinthians 13)
The Apostle Paul admonished the Galatians in Gal. 1: 8-9 – If we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we preached to you, let him be accursed…and he repeated himself in Gal. 1: 9. This must mean it was very important for him to repeat this admonition.
Grown-Up stuff! Real Meat!
They are not being taught that Paul is their apostle, but that the Apostle Peter is; they are not being taught Ephesians 1:10 and Ephesians 3, which speaks of the revealed mystery of God through the apostle Paul, the purpose of the mystery and the appreciation of the mystery.
They are not being taught that we are blessed with all spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ – Ephesians 1:3; or that, we were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise when we heard the word of truth, trusted in Him, and believed the gospel of our salvation Ephesians 1: 13, and that He is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. Ephesians 1:14
This is nothing new!
All who are in Christ must believe that He has done all the work on the cross for them. He said “It is finished!” John 19:30
To your shame!
Some believe that this is a new message being taught. To your shame, this is NOT a new message but the true message for all believers UNDER this “Dispensation of Grace.”
If you profess true Christianity and say you believe the Bible is the true word of God, why don’t you believe that He has given all believers a better covenant, a better hope, (Hebrews 7:19) something that the blood of animals could not do and neither can you? (Hebrews 9:12) There is nothing under the Son – the Lord Jesus Christ- that we can do for and of ourselves that could save us from the wrath of God to come. There’s nothing we can do in or of ourselves that can get us into heaven, or reward us… for God shows no favoritism (Galatians 2:6). Therefore, all the righteous works that you can do or have done to make you holy in the eyes of God, they are to your shame (Romans 4:4-5; Titus 3:5).
Food for thought:
This is not new!
To conclude, Romans 2:16 tells us that the secrets (works) of men will be judged by Jesus Christ according to Paul’s gospel.
I pray that the brothers and sisters who are still trying to live this life under the Law of Moses, who are under the bondage of guilt by their leaders (i.e. preachers/teachers/leaders), that freedom is in the word of God through the Holy Spirit. Come humbly before the throne of grace with a receptive heart and ask the Lord to show you the truth of His word.
Believers in Christ’s finished work, work in thankfulness for what Christ has done. We do not work for our salvation and that is what the law brings: righteous works, which cannot save anyone.
May the good Lord add a blessing to all who reads this article and take heed to His word in its right division. It’s the key to truly understanding the message of the cross.
Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also to the Greek.
