On Life’s Highway

The life I live
I do not own
The time I spent
I spent alone

Like sand in an opened hand
My youth is all but gone, Wasted on the things of man
Running down life’s highway-fast
Spinning my wheels-this cannot last!

Like a revolving door
On the thirteenth floor
On a carousel without a sound
On a road I don’t belong

Exhausted, doing it my way
I found no joy or comfort there
Only colors in black and grey
While riding on life’s highway

Then – Jesus drew me unto Him
Gave me joy and took my sin
Now the life I’ve never lived
Only He alone could give

Away from life’s highway
No longer doing it my way
Since Jesus now lives within
A soul that once was lost in sin!

2 Timothy 1:8-9 – …according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according  to our works, but according to  His own purpose  and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.
