Remembering our persecuted brothers and sisters who stand up each and every day for the gospel of the grace of God; knowing that they could be killed or imprisoned for Christ’s sake.
Life in America cushions us and protects us from much Christian persecution. Unlike other countries where Christianity is forever under fire, we have the freedom at this present time, to speak out boldly for Christ. Let us do so while the time is now! For they will come a time when we too will suffer tremendous persecution for His name sake; it has already begun in its mildest form.
The apostle Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, has made it very clear to us in 2 Timothy 1:7 when he said, “For God has not given us a Spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind”. He then goes on to say in verse 8, “Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord…”
Our mission, as ambassadors for Christ, is to proclaim His word; the gospel of His grace, according to His word rightly divided wherever we go and to whomever we encounter.
He (Paul) also charges us in 2 Timothy 4:2–
“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season”…be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry (whatever your call to ministry is) and to Titus, he says “hold fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict”.
So, let us be steadfast and fervent in prayer. Looking to the Lord for strength and boldness, the author and finisher of our faith, with all readiness to preach His word in its right division…without hesitation, without any doubts, without fear, without watering down the word of God for compromise; for we are not to please man, but God.
We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed– always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. (2 Cor. 4:8-10)
Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
